We would also like to add that due to this time of year (Christmas and New Year) being of particular interest for under 18s to be out partying and trying to get into clubs and pubs - we will be adopting a challenge 25 scheme! - if you look under 25 - you will need valid identification (Passport & Portman Group) to gain entry into The Sunrooms. It also brought us {what I believe to be} Tom Hanks' only role in a sex comedy - Bachelor Party! As far as 80s sex comedies go, it's actually not that bad! For those of you that remember Ski School, Porkies, Hardbodies, Back to School and Weird Science - definitely worth a watch! Big thanks to Sky Movies for airing it recently! Its just sad that it seems like they only ever air something decent at 3am these days! xx.

Well it's Movember and FULL ON MEDIA is taking over on Monday 28th November to throw a party to raise money (and awareness) for prostate cancer research. I am sure many of you have been affected by cancer in some shape or form over your life, so first of all we would like to thank the guys over at Full On Media for deciding to use us as a venue to host this night of bands and dj's. We will be making a contribution, hopefully matching what is raised on the door, so lets make sure there is a good turnout and we can raise some dosh for this one! CIRCUS OF HORRORS FANCY DRESS

Halloween down at The Sunrooms has been one of the best events on our calendar over the last few years. Last year was super busy and a real hoot! The legendary party promoter Mark Smith (Time of the Month | Supersonic) has passed his mantle over to his two children for this year, so we are expecting much of the same. George and Harriet have been promoting hard over the last couple of months and over 6000 people have been invited to the facebook event! SUNROOMS REGGAE ROAST!!

Starting the 14th November, we will be laying on a massive roast down at The Sunrooms every Sunday afternoon! Here's what you can expect - some prime roast beef, roast potatoes, steamed carrots, steamed sugar snap peas, Yorkshire puds, cabbage, stuffing, cauliflower cheese and some homemade gravy! We will also be serving up a mean arse vegetarian option too - keep your eyes peeled for more details to follow on that! Ryan Ashwood and Skinhead Jon will be in the house and supplying the sounds of REGGAE | SKA | ROCKSTEADY for the afternoon! Entrance is free and a grand portion of roast dinner will only set you back £6.00!! Once we hit December, we will switch over to The Sunrooms Xmas dinner! Well, over the last couple of months Tuesdays have been really busy down at The Sunrooms. Some Tuesdays have even been busier than some Friday nights!! ROCKIT - The Sounds of Young Jamaica, is one of my personal favourite nights down at The Sunrooms and happens every 1st Friday of the Month. Oliver Von Fresh and P.B. Correct lead you through Southend's musical answer to New York and Kingston Town, circa 1957 via 1982 to 1995. Their music collection is uniquely dedicated to the underground sounds of Jamaica and black America. Expect Delta Blues | Bluebeat | Rare Soul | Rocksteady to Block Party Hip Hop | Dancehall | Boss Reggae | Digital | Bass Riddum. So get your dancing shoes and feet down here every 1st Friday of the Month to join in and tune in the sounds you will love. And don't forget that if your feeling really in the mood - you can head down at 7pm to take advantage of 2 whole hours of 2 for 1 cocktail offers before the DJ's take over from 9pm till 3am!! ESTRELLA DAMM

We at The Sunrooms have had to change our draught beer offering due to supplier price increases and we hope you like what we have come up with! Sadly, as our prices have been going up - we have removed AMSTEL and KIRIN! Don't worry - we still have RED STRIPE and we don't plan on removing that at any time in the foreseeable future. We were a little sad to see KIRIN go as it is a lovely beer, however, it was just costing way too much and we didn't really want to have to put our prices up over the bar to cover it. AMSTEL, as well, has been on the increase recently so we decided to have a little re-shuffle. We have now got ESTRELLA DAMM in to replace KIRIN. ESTRELLA is the "Star of Barcelona" - ESTRELLA translating as star in Catalan. And it is a fantastic continental beer, which has a lovely aftertaste. It has a long prestigious history of winning awards and for being recognised for uncompromising quality. As well as this, it is the proud sponsors of the SONAR MUSIC AND ARTS FESTIVAL. We have had it doubled coil-ed, and run through two cooler units to help make it a seriously refreshing pint. AMSTEL has been replaced with CARLSBERG - and we opted for CARSLBERG as we wanted to provide you, our guests, with something that doesn't cost the earth. We are selling it at £2.80 all the time (£2.50 at Happy Hour times) and as we had to throw an extra 10 pence onto REDSTRIPE and ESTRELLA - we though we would throw something in that offers real value for money. We hope you can make it down and sample our brewski's in the near future. xx.

THE WORLD CUP

Well, The World Cup has finally arrived. To be honest with you, we have not had a clue whether to show the games or not. We have had quite a few regulars asking if we are going too, but historically The Sunrooms has never shown football (or any sports for that matter). We did, however, want to be prepared and be able to show the games in case everybody started getting sucked into the excitement of it, or developing cases of football fever. We know that many people would rather watch the football here with us and escape the drones of scum and football boys that fill many venues around Southend Town Centre and Leigh-on-sea. So, for the first game, we decided that we would screen the football on both floors - upstairs with sound and a projector, and downstairs with just TV's and no sound. Now, we are going to basically do each game by ear. This Friday is the England vs Algeria game, and we have decided that we will definitely be showing it on both floors - possibly with no sound downstairs but it all depends on who turns up and what everybody wants. (The garden will stay completely football free - and just so you know the whole place will be flag free haa). If we get loads of regulars turning up and asking for the sound downstairs then we will, but if not, we will continue to provide music for people who are trying to escape the football atmosphere or whom are not that bothered by the commentary (the only commentary you will hear will be ratte's words of non-football wisdom). We are going to have door staff this Friday to ensure that we do not get a lot of louts wandering in and that the atmosphere in here caters for people whom may want to watch the game, but do not want to put up with being in a pub filled with hooligans. If England can get through their group and move on to the latter stages of the competition, i am sure many of you will appreciate the fact that you will be able to come down here and enjoy the match and the atmosphere instead of having to go deal with it in Leigh or other places like Varsity and Saks. Once the world cup is over, the TV's are being returned to our friends at Essex Sound & Light and, well, you definitely wont be seeing another football match here till the next world cup and who knows maybe even longer. xx.

The Sunrooms is proud to be part of The Southend Fringe Festival his coming year. We are staging the Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre on the June 16th! THE KOOL KIDS KLUB TURNS 3!!

What is it about May?! Seems like its everybody's birthday!! Well, this is a party you definitely don't want to be missing. THE KOOL KIDS KLUB are turning 3 years old this month and they have had some unforgettable parties over the last few years. It feels like only yesterday we were trying to arrange and formulate the plan for their 2nd birthday. This year they have secured a line-up that is going to rock the roof off of The Sunrooms. We are very pleased to be welcoming SINDEN back to The Sunrooms again as we had a great time last time he was here. And we are also immensely proud to be showcasing RIVA STARR and SOLO as well as all THE KOOL KIDS KLUB residents. LOS BASTARDOS

Get down The Sunrooms every 2nd Friday of the month for THE BASTARDO BROTHERS. Playing a selection of - 70's FUNK | NORTHERN SOUL | SKA | JACKIN HOUSE. They have also decided that they will be taking over the upstairs over the coming months - where they will be supplying TECHNO | DUB-STEP | INDIE DANCE. These guys always put lots of effort into their night - filling each room and the garden with projections and visuals. Don Bastardo is absolutely incredible on the live percussion and will start banging his sticks on anything that gets near him - a real crowd catcher - he also likes a bloody good party - and was a resident at Manumission in Ibiza for 2 years back in the early part of this decade. This month they have also got Northern Soul legend DICK COOMBES with them playing a special guest set downstairs. As well as that, it is also Don Bastardos' Birthday so...make sure you get down here to party with him and DICK as you won't be disappointed! POLLING DAY 2010

Well, today is polling day and we at The Sunrooms urge everyone to get out of bed and make time today, to go and cast their vote. You may think what is the point?? and they are all a bunch of useless wankers and we probably agree! But, it is still important for people to vote as it supports the fact that we have some form of democratic structure to our nation. Many nations citizens don't have the option to vote and if no one voted then it may lead to democracy becoming something of the past. Everyone holds opinions on how things should be done and this is your chance to express what preference you have, over who has the final say on what should be done. Not voting or not being registered to vote is basically saying you don't care.


I personally, do not really support any party and have voted Conservative and Labour in the past. However, this year i do support the Conservative Party, mainly because i believe that it is time for a change of who is in power. If the Conservatives had been in power for the last 13 years i would be voting Labour. Labour has actually been very hard on the pub and bar industry for the last few years - increasing duty by 26% in the last 2 years alone - which of course, has led to businesses like us passing that cost on to guests and customers like you. There are also, way too many pubs and bars that are closing up and down the country as we blog (5 a week last time we checked!!) If one party came out and said that they would help our industry, as well as saying that murderers would get life sentence's that mean life, then they would get our vote in an instant.

We are now serving food at The Sunrooms... so if you haven't already, get down one day and get yourself some grub!! Here i have scaned in a sample of our Food Menu to wet your taste buds. Sorry about the poor quality of the scan, i promise the menu's look a lot better in real life! The Club Sandwiches and the Homemade Fish-finger Sandwiches have been flying out the kitchen a treat!! SUNDAY FUNDAY!!!!

Reggae Sundays at The Sunrooms are back and badder than your nan with a sawn-off shotgun!! RYAN ASHWOOD is supplying the tunes all day from about 3pm through til we shut at 11pm! He comes fully loaded with record boxes and records coming out of his ears! I have honestly never seen a record collection as big as his - and the best thing is - he goes and spends the money we pay him on more reggae!! RYAN ASHWOOD was recently asked to open for PAMA INTERNATIONAL (who in 2006, were the first band to be signed by TROJAN RECORDS for 30 years / Not too mention the fact that the band were formed by the legendary LYNVAL GOLDING from THE SPECIALS!!) Make sure you get down to The Sunrooms on a Sunday to check out RYAN - the music is piped into the garden too, so you can get the reggae sunshine fever over a nice Sunday recovery lunch and a Red Stripe!! Not to forget - - the roast dinners will be making a return in the winter! xx.

HE AIN'T BEER, HE'S MY BROTHER

Summer is almost here and everybody (including us) starts digging the cider. We have decided to add a couple of cider's to our range here at The Sunrooms for this coming summer! After um-ing and ah-ing over several brands and various flavours - we made a decision to rock with BROTHERS CIDER! BROTHERS has a long history spanning back to 1658 and since 1995, has become very well known, due to it association with festivals. Once we did some research and some tasting :) , we thought that seeing as many of our guests and customers, past and present, had partied and frequented many festivals in their time, it would do it justice to stock BROTHERS at The Sunrooms! We will be filling our fridges with 3 different varieties of BROTHERS - their FESTIVAL STRENGTH PEAR CIDER (7% Abv) - STRAWBERRY PEAR CIDER (4% Abv) - and finally their TOFFEE APPLE CIDER (4% Abv). So.... if you fancy sitting in the sun drinking cider in the coming months, we hope you come and seek us out!! xx.

What a glorious two years it has been, they have had some banging nights and some top quality guests - including the likes of Grooverider | Shy FX | Adam F | Their Birthday party promises to be another legandary drum and bass party here at The Sunrooms! Welcome to The Sunrooms Blogspot! We decided to create a blog instead of getting a website designed! To be honest we cant overly afford a website at the minute and we also thought that if we have a blog it may be a little more engaging with you, our guests and customers! As well as this, i am sure we will be able to manage our blog more effectively than a website and therefore we will able to update you on things that are happening down here over the coming months and so forth!
